There is a tool shop that I know sells Allen and the guys there rebuild a lot of ratchets... but it's in Flint, MI, so that relly doesn't help you any...

BTW, I have three Allen ratchets and i really like them. If anyone knows where to get rebuild kits online, I'd be interested too.
I have a hunch, though, that you can use Cman pro ratchet guts to rebuild the Allens...

You know I was surprised this Allen ratchet is a very well built internally including the exceptional steel.....it is a far better ratchet then the Craftsmen ratchets....just something as small as the reversible mechanism stays were you want it were I have had the Craftsmen slip on me a few times because alot of theres use that little switch...were the Allen uses the ring style....I highly recommend this ratchet even if your a high quality tool guy....yes the guts feel alittle bit looser then my Facom ratchet but still a excellent quality

Well Allen doesnt have a website... it all goes through armstrong. The newer teardrop ratchets do share the craftsman guts. Id buy a craftsman roundhead ratchet... Id bet those are the same. What exactly is wrong with it?

The whole head internals are feeling very loose like its ready to fall apart....everything still engages fine....but its alot more loose then it was before....plus its like 12 years old maybe 15 years

Just get it waranteed. Northern tool sells allen stuff, call them and see if they honor the warantees, and if not, find out where they do.

Id say save up and buy yourself a nice snap on ratchet, You probbaly wont ever have to rebuild it.... I have one thats like 3 1/2 X as old as I am and it works flawlessly.

No, items that have proven themselves. Im on a "limted budget" so I cant afford to take chances on tools... I need to know that others have been satisfied.

Yeah... but the whole FACOM / Beta switch was more than likely a political/financial/contractual move rather than one based on tool quality.

It was all pretty much political and such....see BETA is an Italian owned company...and Ferrari is Italian....Its only the best way to go ya know?? Political wink wink

He's talking about Monster Garage. If you win you get 4k of MAC tools. Don't tell me you wouldn't take 4k worth of free tools from MAC. Even if you hate MAC, nobody in their right mind would turn that down.
