Question on New Windows and Siding

Close enough on the drip cap flashing. However the paint break on your colors is wrong. The sides of the casing are supposed to be painted to match the body of the building and only the face of the casing would be painted the trim color...no crazy cutting in against the rake of the siding. Look at other buildings around you.

Argh. Unfortunately I never read that particular rule......

Ok to expand on this a little does a drip cap need to be installed if there is a porch roof over the window or door?

Quick and dirty answer; yes, if the roof does NOT project over double the distance from the top of the window to the soffit line.

If there is a chance water will drip down the siding or trim above, then yes. Think driven rain. If no or very unlikely then caulking is enough.

Sounds like the easiest answer is to add it now for the piece of mind.
