I have seen several screwdrivers like this before. They look decent, but they have no name and they just saw made in USA. I’ve seen them with several different color handles. Does anyone know story on these screwdrivers or if they are good ones? Thanks IMG_6799.jpgIMG_6800.jpg

I've seen several of this style screwdriver in my yard sale travels as well. My impression is that these were not high quality screwdrivers. Not only is the handle material budget-like in appearance, but the fact that the handles always seem to be smaller than top-line drivers shows an attempt to reduce cost by reducing the amount of plastic used in the handle. The lack of brand markings is also a tip-off. Typically, unbranded tools are provided as part of a set sold under a private store brand or generic.

wedge the handle in the jaws of a vise, and then use a pair of vise grips to pull the shank out, some you have to hammer on the vise grips to get the shank out.

How the Snap-on guy does it is to put the blade in a vise and the use a prybar or large punch to tap the handle off.

I went and looked at the ones I have. Some have Nicholson screen printed on them and others have Crescent molded into them.

Better way to get a driver shank out of the handle: slide a thick washer onto the shank, then flip it and lock the shank in the vise with about a 3/8" gap. Then take two large standard drivers, insert between the vise and washer, and push down - slowly pushing the handle up off the shank. Easier to prevent damage to the plastic handle.

Not my idea, got it from another forum member.

I have the same screwdriver that I inherited with some other USA made tools that are likely from the 70's-90's. I see no reason to think it's not a "good" screwdriver. Start using it and see how you like it. :dunno:
