Question on racedeck installation by garage door

When you have installed racedeck, did you place the racedeck just up to the garage door, or did you have the garage door close on top of the racedeck?

I've seen it done both ways. The install video on the racedeck site shows the racedeck only going up to the garage door, not underneath it.

Is there any issue with having it extend underneath the garage door a bit (racedeck under the garage door, the trim edge exposed to the outside), so the garage door has an nice even surface to close onto?

Mine goes infront of the actuall door. I then used the threshold pieces and they actually just touch the rubber of the bottom of the garage door.

But, nothing is actually under the door. Just a"smidge" if anything.

Hi
The most popular and recommended way to install RaceDeck at the garage door opening is to have the edges just touch the vinyl weather strip on the door as it closes, with nothing exposed to the outside. If you are short to the door, that is fine, however, you want to avoid having any part of the floor exposed outside the door when closed.

I have the garage door close on top of the racedeck and it works just fine. Only the edging strip shows from the outside once the door is closed. My garage door is under a carport so I'm not worried about weathering for the exposed peices.

A friend of mine has it. Basically goes up to the door. Nothing exposed outside. The oddity with racedeck to me is that when the door is open and the sun hits it, it expands and lifts up a bit. Looks odd but resettles when the shade comes.

I am on the fence between RD and doing Epoxy. My concern with RD is what happens with fluid spills and dirt?

If I spill oil, will it seap to the concrete? Does dirt gather where the tiles meet? I'd like to keep my concrete clean so when it comes time to sell the place the garage floor isn't messy

There are many threads in here about fluids and the Racedeck tiles. For the most part, it os not an issue. One sign company had their flor down for several years and when they moved, the tiles were removed and the floor looked fine underneath. The important thing is to clean up the spill and not let it sit for a while. Also, with the tiles, they are easy to pull up individually or in section in case you want to see if the fluid got thru or you if you do need to clean anything up that got thru.

Cool that is great information.

My next question is can you put a car on jack stands without damaging the RD? Of course I would put a rag between the RD and stand.

Yes you can put jack stands on RaceDeck. If you are using the less expensive style that has angle iron style legs < , then you may need to put something flat an solid under the stand, like a metal plate, piece of wood, rubber, etc...So it does not act like a cookie cutter.
