Looking for opinions here.

I have the Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches and am looking at getting another set so I can put my Gearwrench at home.

I'm looking at the SK X-frame set or the Snap on flank drive set.
I use them in an industral setting mostly with 6 point fastners. Aside from price wise which set would you get?

I have some Snap-On, Gearwrench, Craftsman and HF tools. Looking to upgrade to some better wrenches.

If you are ok with the SK X-frame design -- flat (no offset) and no reverse lever -- then they are hard to beat.

The new design from Snap On looks pretty good too though, just a much a higher cost.

I've been liking my Kabo made Matco stuff. I have the black Taiwan made Proto ratchet wrenches that are really decent as well. The SK get high remarks.

What don't you like about the Gearwrench ones? Need offset, stubby, flex, etc..?
Lopking to start building my home tool set for working on my cars instead of packing up what I may need to do a job at home.

I'm going to assume that you have the typical Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches that can often be found at Sears and the like, COO China.

I have a Metric and SAE set of the Gearwrench XL ratcheting wrenches, COO Taiwan, and I've been very happy with them. Ratcheting mechanism is smooth and they are comfortable in the hand, very thin and lightweight as well. Can't go wrong for the money. I picked up both full sets (8-19 & 1/4"-1") for around $140.

What makes them look different?

They look like the ones I have in my home box as well as work box, but I can't tell where either set was made, both sets have been good tho

I have two sets of the Gear Wrench and a set of the SK. I like the SK ratcheting mechanism better. It is more durable in an industrial setting. I have stripped out a few of the GW ones at work. But the XFrame chrome seems softer than my snap on regular wrenches. I have not been able to compare to SO ratcheting wrenches as I don't have any of those. But what I mean by softer is that they seem to nick easily and leave a little dent. Not really a big deal but worth mentioning.

Proto. I have a few of their ratcheting wrenches. I like them. I am in industrial also.

I have the proto anti slip design ratcheting wrench. Use them heavily daily and love them. What ***** is if I ever break one, I'll have nowhere to go for warranty. Gotta send it thru mail and play the waiting game.

A guy at my work got a set of Armstrong ratcheting wrenches and they're pretty similar. Pricey if you find it tho.

I have the flex gearwrenches, and i really like those. But a co worker of mine has the flank drive ones from snap on, and those feel so much better than mine. A lot smoother and the ratcheting end is pretty thin compared to mine. I think it may be just a tad thicker than regular box ends, but way thinner than normal ratcheting wrenches

I have Gearwrench, SK, and Snap On. Out of preference I like the SKs mainly because they're 6 point. I like the fine fine tooth and so far I've yet to kill one.

I picked up the SK X frame in metric and sae a few weeks ago. Ive been using them every chance i get. The open end design is confidence inspiring compared to my Craftsman V series combination wrenches. Before this set, I hardly ever used the open end due to the fear of rounding. I like that they are a little thicker and don't cut into your hand like the raised panels. As for the ratcheting six point, the action is very smooth and works great in tight, low swing positions.
