Does anyone know who could make me a new screw/spindle for a old c.parker 5” jaw vice. The old one is broke and I don’t have the back half. Trying to keep costs down though. Thanks

Couldn't you buy a foot long piece of the same size Acme threaded rod and cut off the broken one and weld on the new section? I'm guessing from your user name that you can weld.

Buying the acme rod would be the cheapest I would think even if you have to get someone else to weld it. Otherwise it looks like a fairly simple task on a lathe. You have enough to get thread measurements from. Probably not cheap unless you have some connections.

Mcmaster is one vendor that sells acme rod. You have to figure out the pitch of the screw and if it is a real Acme thread of some other thread form. One way to measure the pitch is to assemble the vise and count how many turns if the screw it takes to move the jaw 1". If you know how then you can measure the pitch directly.

Contact ABOM79 on youtube. He does manual machining, and is a vice collector. he might do it as a video, and thus keep the price down.
