I just bought an office building and am planning a remodel. The floor currently has an epoxy that's in pretty bad shape.
The plan was to either grind or sandblast the epoxy, stain the concrete, and seal.
My contractor is saying "his guy" says that if we grind or sandblast the floor, the stain won't work because we would grind or blast away the carbon in the concrete, which is apparently what the stain sticks to. Sounds like he might be right, but I'd like some more opinions!
I've searched the forum and the internet and can't really find a definitive answer.
Any help would be appreciated . . . . we stained our basement floor and I really like the look. Plus, it's about 3200 sf, so the cost is attractive!
Thanks in advance.
