QUESTION: securuty light fabrication

I am tired of the junk motion security lights that you get from the big box stores. I am interested in making one of from scratch with good industrial components. Have any of you made homemade motion lights which fixtures that you purchased at a Industrial electrical Warehouse? If so would it be possible that you can post some pictures and the components that you used and any other information that you may have ..I like to jump right into this.

If you wanted to DIY that is fine, but if you are doing it for cost saving.... probably NOT. Unless you have a source for the parts cheap.

There is NOTHING to these motion sensor lights at all, unless you are building it yourself from electronic parts. The module usually comes as one unit, doesn't change much. 120V with 3 wires, Hot , neutral, and switched Hot. It is the same with all my 120V wired security lights so far... The fixture it's your choice of water/weather proof housings. Unless you go Ebay and they do have 12V 24V or 120V pir sensors units.... but that is not industrial ....What ever you do, don't buy those units from Homedepot or Lowes, they are ****.


Component wise... it's usually just (simplified)

PIR module with or without dust to dawn sensor. it has Hot Neutral and switched HOT.
Housing that is water / weather resistance
the light bulb socket or socketssssss






So not sure what you are trying to accomplish... why don't you just get a a set of RAB lights.... a lot of good review, but too costly for my taste.
