Gents -
I recently purchased the following socket set at an estate sale a few blocks from my home.
I am a die-hard SK socket guy, but I am quite aware of the Cornwell reputation, and the quality they put into their tools, sockets especially.
I walked away $4 dollars poorer, but today just might be the day that I can look back and say, "It was the best four bucks I ever spent. Ever."
After inspecting the set a bit further, I am scratching my head with confusion. Hopefully y'all can help this Cornwell ignoramus out.....
Here are my questions:
(For clarity, the sockets will be numbered 1-14, reading left to right)
1. All of the sockets are 6 pointers, except for socket #12. I have no idea what I'm looking at. This socket is obviously a specialty socket. Does anyone know for sure?
2. The stamping of the sockets is rather straightforward. All sockets contain Cornwell, USA, size, and socket part number. What is unclear to me is the number stamped on each socket located between "Cornwell" and "USA"
Socets 1, 4, 8, and 14 have the number "13" printed on it.
Siockets 3, 5, 6, 7, and 10 have the number "22" printed on it.
Sockets 2, 9, and 11 have the number "32" printed on it.
Socket 13 has the number "12" printed on it.
Specialty socket 12 has no identifyable Cornwell markings whatsoever. I can barely read the lightly embossed marking. It reads "9995250", and directly beneath this number is "25"
This specialty socket is a 3/8 drive. It is not 1/2 drive like all the rest.
This specialty socket is a 12 pointer, which makes it the only one in this "set"
If anyone can shed some light on these sockets, I would be awfully indebted.
Thank you!
Tom
