Just painted 3 colors in my garage, all Gliddin Semi-Gloss paint. Layed Killz primer on walls first, let ry for 1 day, then laid tan on ceiling on walls first. Directly after layerd Seal Grey on bottom 56" of walls via Behr Premium 9" 5/8" nap roller. After these dried for a day, I taped a 10" wide Pumpkin Spice (burnt orange) stripe 56" up from the floor. I ran into an issue painting the stripe. I laid 3 pretty thick coats with a roller, but decided to lay a coat of Glidden Grey primer after seeing how see-through it was over the gray and tan meeting on the walls.
I primed and laid the orange stripe. I decided to be impatient to pull the tape from the stripe off about 8 hours later. Needless to say, after ulling the tape, LOTS of paint came off; probably 12+ chunks of paint.
My questions are, what is the best technique to touch up the pieces the tape tore up? Some are tearing up to where the latex paint is actually looking like thick paper where is separating clean from the wall.
I was thinking either taking some fine sand paper or steel wool and cutting down the edges so it will blend better. But, when I touch the walls up a few days after, will the paint dry different colors?
Please chime in!!
