Questions about your air setups

I'm trying to get my garage air setup but I want to make sure my strategy is correct.

1. Do you guys prefer dedicated regulators/filters or are combo units good to go? I've been looking at Wilkerson setups and some of their regulators have a filter built into them. Is this acceptable or would a separate filter be more desirable?

2. I want to run a shutoff valve between the compressor and retractable air hose. I see that Wilkerson sells a "LOCKOUT". It looks like something that you could put a Masterlock through to prevent air use. I don't have any desire to lock my system down like this but would this also function as a shutoff valve? I only ask because some eBay units are being sold with this lockout attached.

3. Their is a guy near me selling his Porter Cable 60 gallon 6-7hp compressor 17cfm for $500. Is this a good deal? It seems like the PC compressor isn't the best but I thought it might work for my light use as a homeowner compressor. The price tag seemed like a steal. What do you guys think? I don't plan on sand blasting at this point. Just running impacts, grinders, paint, etc.

Thanks for any help.

1. I've always run a combined filter & reg, just don't use ARO = junk!

2. What's wrong w a basic ball valve from the hardware store?

Nothing is wrong with it. I just thought it looked cool. Plus it comes with some of the setups listed on EBay. Just wasn't sure if it's exact function.
