I just finished school for automation and robotics in May and have a decent job. I would like to further my skills and work more on the electrical side of the business. How do I become a licensed or unlicensed electrician in Minnesota? I do have electrical and plc training through my Associates degree. Do I just need to review and test out of the NEC testing? Do I need to go through and apprenticeship or journeyman program? Thank you for your help in advance.

I think now the situation is better. My son applied last December and the local IBEW asked him on the next day after the test if he could come to work that day. I taught him everything he knows. :lol_hitti

Did that years ago and there was at least a 5year long wait list...:eyecrazy: I said forget it!

I don't know the exact requirements in Minn., but next door in ND the state requires you to have 8000 hrs. experience as an apprentice and either trade school training or other approved formal training before you are allowed to take the state journeyman's test. I'm guessing Minn. has similar requirements. Local 714 here in western ND is still taking apprentices if you want to come here ;). I'm the 3rd year instructor out of Bismarck.
