Questions on Epoxy floors

I'm the commander of our local American Legion post and we have been revitalizing our building. We have recovered most of the floors with new tiles, and we need to remove the dirty old nasty carpet out of our lounge and we are thinking about doing a metallic epoxy coating in it. I've worked with epoxies doing carbon fiber and some other projects for myself. But never with concrete floors or metallics.

Looking for a little insight. The room is 560 sq ft. I plan on removing the carpet, and renting a sander to clean the floor and make sure it's level, no idea of the shape of the concrete under the carpet till I pull it.

I've looked at a few websites and I'm guessing it's going to cost us around 1300 to 1500 for the materials.

The idea is to use a black base pigment coat with a red, white and blue metallic flake on the 2nd layer patterned in. After the 2nd coat, I want to put the legion, auxiliary, sons and riders logos down with vinyl graphics and possibly each military branch and then a final coat over that.

Is that do able? Embedding the vinyl graphics? Are my cost estimates about right? Anything else I need to do before the first coat?

Any help would be appreciated.

Embedding a graphic is the weak link in the chain.
To embed a graphic, you need to use the same clear epoxy that you used for the metallic portion, only without additive. Making sure all the air is pushed out of it prior to coating.

If the floor will ever have an issue, it will be with that logo.

Pricing is correct.

Also... metallic coatings will show off defects, so any cracks, holes, etc.... need to be addressed well before coating, think of your floor as a 68 corvette and you re going to paint it BLACK.

Thanks, I figured the graphics would be a possible issue. I've looked at embedding them under clear coats before for my race truck and opted not to try it due to the possibility of issues with the thinner I use lifting or damaging the graphics, but haven't looked at it inside of epoxy before.

These are some of the CF parts I've made

We've heard, but have not experienced 1st hand, that the use of the "one-way" perforated vinyl wrap for the embedded logo is the way to go when doing this. Makes sense but I'm with Scotty in that IF there is a failure it will likely have to do with the vinyl logo. This is the same material used to wrap buses and such and just like them you will note that it is hard to get the colors right.

We have sold a few embedded logos that are made of a porous material that the clear epoxy encapsulates.

You mention flakes but metallic floors use clear epoxy with metallic pigments so need to clarify that. We offer a widevariety of metallic colors if blending them is your plan.

From a design standpoint though we have some concerns that a metallic floor with logos could be quite ‘busy’ so something to think about, especially if you plan on renting it out for social events the logo may not be to everyone’s liking.

Another thought is that for logo decal floors we often sell floor graphic decals that are designed to walk on, like in supermarkets, but the nice thing about them is if you change your mind they can be peeled off easily.

Sorry, used to dealing with metal flake painting cars. This is an American Legion Post first and foremost. We do rent it out for people to have parties and the like but the whole building is covered in flags, emblems, etc.. so if they have an issue with a few emblems embedded in the floor they probably wouldn't rent our hall to start with. The logo's I'm talking about are the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Son's of the American Legion and American Legion Riders logos.

The logo's were just an idea I had to add to it.
