Questions on old Speedaire Compressor

Im trying to find out the model of my Speedaire compressor. A few weeks ago it started leaking oil from the weep hole on the crank cover. I'm guessing the bearing has gone bad. I also heard that a bad check valve could give issues. I have never messed with a compressor other than turning it on and off, but if I can find some details, I know I can fix it.

Where can i find the model number on these compressors?

Where is the check valve on these? In the manifold or the tank to manifold riser?

This was my dads and I just started using it. Mostly never past one cycle, but when I needed some heavy air needs I painted a stripe of oil across the shop:D

What they told me is, once you see the oil leak your cylinder is scored up and you get a replacement pump. I don't know why they said that but that's what I was told.

I have that pump in my car, but I promised it to a guy or I would send it to you. I think unless you need a project, you get another one of those compressors off Craigslist, slave your old tank to the new tank for more air, keep that Dayton motor for a backup.

Just out of curiosity I looked at Austin Craigslist, I thought there must be a deal on a compressor there, they are everywhere here. You're right, there's really nothing there for a steal. Grainger is going to clean you out I think, look on Ebay for "speedaire pump" or "campbell hausfeld pump," they are on there too new and used.

I bought a Campbell Hausfeld compressor yesterday. 20gal, 4.5 hp built in regulator and the PO plumbed in a water trap/regulator. Its an oiled cast iron pump. $125. If I can find a new pump for the other one down the road, I will fix it and maybe install a gas engine on the Speedaire for field work or junkyard runs.
