What do I have here?! Is it worth the $$ to get regulators and tanks if I think I may want to use these? Recommend good value regulators, please. What is possible value as it sits? Is that a date stamp on hose? If it's 1999 mfg date are they ok to use?

You have a victor performer 510/300 oxygen acetylene torch set that appears to be new in box. IP-7-99 indicates grade of hose, also called "Type T". You can use that set with propane with a different fuel regulator.

As you can see you didn't get all that came in that kit. It's a good starter kit. US made and easily serviced. But what is left there would cost you $300+ as separates not including the hose. If the hose doesn't have cracking I'd use it. Not a lot of pressure goes down those hoses.

Nice torch handle with built in check valves and flash arrestors. Want to sell it?

Jeff, sorry if i came across as a jerk, didn't mean to. Would you be using this all the time or just once in awhile? Although i dont have a reccomendation for new gauges.

What i would do is buy propane and oxygen regulators, along with the largest oxygen cylinder you can own. Around here, the largest that can be owned is an 80 cubic ft, any larger and they must be reanted/leased from the supplier. At that point you can just use a commonly available propane grill cylinder, instead of spending extra on an acetelyne or propelyne cylinder. Best of luck.

Hey Rust - I didn't take it wrong at all. I've done dumber things than not lift the lid...

What would I use propane/oxy vs acetylene/oxy for? Heat for stuck bolts and soldering copper pipe but not for cutting or brazing?

Just the opposite. Acetylene has gotten very expensive for general cutting so a lot of shops have switched over to propane. You can solder, braze and heat with propane too. I don't know what tip was included but you'd want a few from no 1 on down. You won't be welding steel with propane.

Acetylene has a finer flame with a more precise cut. Propane is much cheaper though. I recommend either victor or radnor gauges. Or even Harris. Whatever you buy, make sure they have a pressure pop-off. My grandpa bought a set one time because they were cheap. No pop-off, he almost lost his arm.

First off propane is cheap and available just about anywhere. Secondly, you can just use a grill cylinder instead of buying or renting one a propane or propylene or acetylene cylinder. Thats what i do for use in my shop.

At work we use propylene which is the available gas thats between propane and acetylene. I personally don't notice much of a difference between propane and propylene.

I have a mix match of regulator and torch brands at home, same as we have at work. As long as it functions properly and is safe, the name doesn't matter to me.
