Record (UK) made a series of them, but only slightly easier to find.

RECORD i have seen them at my machinist but not for sale, company is closed now,is it not?

amazon.com comes out with too much shipping!! i was looking to see if i have more options?

probably at some point i will have to pull the tricker and buy one from the us!

strange enough is a German brand but the quick acting mechanism is only for the US market!!!?????

you might mention where you live so others might be able to help you better. it appears you live in Germany?

you are right that Record vises are made in China now and i'm pretty sure they were bought or sold to Irwin Tools. the older ones were made in England and some of them had the quick release you are looking for. hard to find here in the US too.

I know Canada and England have their repair shops full of them if you are able to find one, but not sure what other companies make that awesome design.

I've seen some great German made vises show up on the vise thread now and then which might serve you well if you can't find a quick release one.

just a quick ,UK behind your Cyprus will let others know that you are on that side of the Pond because I think there is also a Cypress, Florida in the states.

that said I don't know if you have an online site like we do with Craigslist.org or Canada has on that I can't quote the name right now like Kjjjj.com or something like that.

best bet to find a good old vise it to check estate sales, garage and moving sales and watch to see if a factory is closing down or if you hear of one changing out their equipment for new upgrades and getting rid of their old ones.

now you are looking for one that is a lot harder to find so get a nice well made one as big as you can afford until you find the one you really want unless you already own a decent one and are just looking for the upgrade.

when you google quick-release vise what comes up as far as brands?

Nothing much online around here to find good old used equipment!

Mostly word of mouth makes you lucky on some purchases!

garage sales or similar markets are not existand, my best bet is the internet or a quality shop but with nothing specifiec like this one!

When i Google quick acting vises i get some results from Irwin which maybe a solution!

other that come up is many used Record from the Uk...and a couple from the states, SG and Husky in some web sites!!

Am not in a rush to get one an i have normal type one i use now, but at some point in the workshop with the workload increasing,i will be better off with two, keeping the quick acting as the main one!

Several old English brands which definitely had models with quick release:

Parkinson & Samsonia
Fortis
Record
Woden

Should widen your possible options a tad. Irwin owns the Record brand nowadays, so they may still do some. Apparently the quality isn't on par with the original Record's though.

Plenty of Records with QR on eBay uk , what size are you after ?
Know any trans continental truck drivers ? I see plenty of European trucks over here ,
perhaps tie up with one of them and get it home on a return journey ,

if you find one you like , it could stay at my house till your ready to get it home, just don't buy thirty vices as space is limited:)
