Hey everyone, I have a guy bringing over this socket set in an hour or two for me to check out. I think it is a 3/8 metric set up to about 30mm but the seller seems a bit uncertain. I have never seen a Stahwille tool in person but recognize the name from discussions here. Is this likely to be a top quality German made set? He is asking $125 but coming over to look at some trades. Many thanks and Happy holidays to all.

Stahlwille is very high quality stuff. Probably one of if not the best German hand tool manufacturer. They are usually a mat chrome finish. I don't know what a fair price is, but I would take a stahlwille tool any day of the week!

I haven't worked with old Stahlwille, but based on my experience with new tools Stahlwille is my favorite. I have specific preferences for some things (Hazet wrenches, Felo screwdrivers), but if I had to pick one brand overall that is my favorite, it's Stalhlwille.

You guys are getting slow! It took 24 mins to get 5 replies. :lol_hitti I knew I could count on you. I have heard the same things as you regarding Stahlwille tools. I was just hoping that someone might be familiar with this particular set. Many thanks to all of you and I will let you know if I end up with it. Rusty

I am not too familiar with this brand, but if it is a high-quality German product, you should be glad it is a full set. 3/8'' drive up to 30mm seems a bit high, but that would be interesting. Best of luck with the trade/purchase, tell us what you got it for!

She is home safe now!

Very nice condition and every piece stamped Germany. Not surprisingly it turned out to be a 1/2 set. Seller was definitely not a tool guy. Here are some pics. Sockets 8 -34 with some skips and hex bits 4-14 with some skips. Got it for $110. Believe it or not, I am slightly disappointed that it is a 1/2" set but only because I mostly work on my motorcycles and almost always use 1/4" or 3/8" drive tools. It would be a shame for this to sit in a drawer. Oh well...permission to roll your eyes now and say "Sour grapes"! Thanks for all the timely advice. Just one of the things I love about this forum. -Rusty

good score. i would have spent that no problem. same token, I dont use 1/2 that much socket wise aside from impacts. yet it still would have came home with me.

out of curiosity, what are the hex sizes?

4,5,6,7,8,10,12, & 14. It looks like most of the hex bits and about 1/2 of the sockets have never been used. The original owner was working on a wind farm project somewhere. Guess he only needed certain sizes for his tasks. He somehow fell on hard times and sold a bunch of his stuff to a friend for some xmas cash. I bought the set from the "friend"
