Quick air regulator question

I installed this air compressor at my mom/brother's house a couple weeks ago for my brother.

https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...belt-drive-air-compressor-60-gal?cm_vc=-10005

Seems to be a decent unit. It maxes out a 15psi and I want to regulate it down to 100 or so for his general air tools. I have a Speedaire regulator sitting around but it says 150 pis max inlet pressure.

Does that last 5psi really matter or should I look for a better regulator?

I wouldn't worry about the 5psi.
but if you are just drop the pressure switch on the compressor to 140-150psi and call it a day!
You just need to open the pressure switch cap and loosen the spring tension nut.
One of the spring is for the start(adjusted to let say 80psi) and the other is for the stop.
you just need to figure out which on is which(not always the same.)

I agree with the above but I would drop the cut-out pressure to ~130psi. A single stage compressor will reach 125-130 psi with ease but will struggle to make the 155. As the compressor reaches for higher pressure the run time extends exponentially and the heat builds higher.

Turn it down to 135--140, and FORGET THE REGULATOR.

100 psi is too low for typical air tools given the restriction in the plumbing and hoses.

My regulator is set as high as it will go--about 135.
I set it to 100psi with a grinder running. It's not just a reg though, it's also a filter/water separator.
