Are there reliable sources for decent quality impact bits without ordering from China? Why are fractionals so much harder to find than metrics? I'd like to find a source with different drive types and different lengths. So far, this Chinesium set is all my quick search has garnered.

Thanks in advance.

Those pictured would be ordered from China. I really don't want to do that. Not sure if domestic are even an option.

McMaster might be a good source. Last time I ordered I got Zephyr bits. Not sure what they are sourcing for impacts. Might be worth asking them.

I wouldn't be making fun of made in China quick change impact bits. I have yet to wear out any of my Canadian tire ones from moderate use.

The ones in my original post are from an ebay seller in China. Mostly I was trying to avoid ordering directly from China and was unsure if COO was even going to be an option on something like this.

I dunno an Amazon search for "ALLEN" hex bits turns up all kinds of options from 1" and up to maybe 4" in driver bits for me

Guess it depends on what "set" of bits you may need.

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=1/4+hex+...ex+deive+,industrial,202&ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_7_14

I generally use 2" long bits mostly in my drivers but 3" long is better sometimes depending on the job

I most often buy singles at the hardware store bulk bin contractor stuff made by LUTZ mostly T20, T25, S2 and PH2 in long length but they do have SAE HEX in the shorter 1" tips along with all the others.

I had it different and had the harder time finding some 1/4" drive metric tips to round the bit selection of my job box.

Their out there whether or not they are all from China :dunno:

Not much of a difference. I usually just buy name brand stuff like dealt or Milwaukee and have not broken many.

Its not about China or not. Its what alloy is used.

I only recently got into a cordless impact tool (2018, I know...), and it destroyed the plain 'grey' colour bits fast. Impact-grade ones are usually black, and have a reduced diameter shank.

I bought Bosch branded #2 robby bits off amazon. Usually about $1 each when you buy apack of 5+. I drive thousands of screws before they wear out.

Like you first said the alloy is what counts most of all. Cheap bits (or sockets) like found in many screwdriver sets won't hold up to impacts.

And reduced shanks are definlty an improved design for screwdriving use.

But really...the color of the bit by itself has nothing to do with it though... almost ALL my contractor grade impact bits are Gray :D

Except for the "black" Milwaukee reduced shank ones which I hate :lol_hitti

Makita even has "GOLD" ones :eyecrazy:
