Hello Everyone. I had recently purchased an AC manifold due to my car not putting out enough cold air. Unfortunately one of the quick connect fittings to the AC ports came apart immediately as I pushed the fitting on the port. Amazon is only giving me a refund option and not a replacement option. Obviously because of their priorities due to the Corona virus but I don't want to order again and wait another 2-3 weeks. Also I don't want to invest any more money to get replacement fittings if I don't have to.

Miraculously, I have all retainer bearings. No damage to the collar or spring. I figured that if it came apart it can be put back together but I'm having issues. There is not enough space between the fitting and the collar of the fitting to get the bearings (5) in their indentations. Is this do-able in some way or am I SOL?

Thanks in advance and I hope everyone stays safe.

Are you suggesting you spend many hours of time to save a few dollars for the fitting?

Take the refund and go to a local supplier for the fitting across the counter.

I am willing to bet that Florida has more than a few places that sell HVAC parts and that Air Conditioning is an essential business in your area.

nadogail, I ended up ordering a new set of connectors but then cancelled. Like an idiot I was just concentrating on the wrong thing when trying to fix it. Stupid me did not take apart the whole fitting. There's a screw-in part that gives tension internally to the bearings. With it out you can put the bearings in, slip on the spring and collar. Once everything is aligned, screw the inner valve portion which tightens everything up. Lesson Learned.

If it’s the low side, a hose and quick disconnect from a can fill and ball valve can be rigged up. Ball valve, hose splice, and clamps about 1/2 the cost of good disconnect. I have my “ loan out” set rigged this way.

Usually when stuff like that fails it is because things weren't machined right and it will happen again. You'll save $15 on a hose that NAPA sells, pat yourself on the back, and dump $50 worth of refrigerant when it happens again and you have to start all over from an evacuated system. Just saying.....
