Quick disconnect fittings

This question might be obvious for some. Most people use quick disconnects for their air tools. I placed milton v style at the tool end of the air hose. If I place the same fitting at the compressor end to be able to remove the hose would that reduce the capability of air flow. I know the fitting is a restriction but if both fittings are the same size does that reduce the flow compared to if only one fitting was installed?

If you are worried, step up to larger sized fittings. I found a bag of brand new 3/8" quick connects at a re-use store and those made a huge difference using air tools.

any fitting will reduce cfm, but, you have nothing to worry about. the regulator on the compressor is probably your biggest bottleneck .
hose size, lenght, fittings etc are all contributors to friction loss

2 fittings, double the loss, if it matters is a different issue. Friction loss is acumulative, the higher the volume the more it is.

Yes the regulator must be a restriction. I have to crank the static pressure much higher to get my desired pressure when the tools are running. The regulator is 1/2 npt. Are there regulators which can deliver enough cfm to deliver the pressure they are set for?

Going to remove the quick disconnect at the compressor end for now. Time to look in to a better regulator now. Thank you

Regulator is set to flow, adjust with tool running. These regulators are sufficent. You can test at tool, it can be estimated a couple ways, does the tool have plenty of power, often they need to be turned down or it makes them more effecient. The reason the reg is in there in the first place is to turn it down.

The ideal is to have only 1 at the tool. A well designed system doesn't need the other end to come apart and it prevents disconnecting charged hose sections.
This has valve on main ahead of any unions, equipment, rubber lines and screwed to the hose reel. Have 1 reg feeds 4 things, got another feeds 1 reel and plasma.

I can confess to having a couple reels with connectors but they are big heavy 75 cfm jobs I got for free. Plasma gets it from this one, has an intermittent leak and I havnt been tempted to tear in to it yet so I added a valve. The hydrant/connector on the right is between fil and reg, hasn't been used in so long it's full of dirt daubs. It could be removed.

This an old pic at rig up, it's been remodeling a couple times. I did put a connector on this so I could connect a 1/2 hose for a 3/4 gun and go around 50 ft of reel but the last times I use it didn't bother as it did the work as it was.
