Sometimes the obvious just jumps out at you...
I do most of my hammering near my vise, and my old Craftsman roller is within arms reach of both my vise and my DP. I had a roll of insulated solid strand 12 ga. wire sitting next to where this was, and in just a couple of minutes made these hanging loops.
The "form" was the largest part of the engineers hammer, and then into the vise for an eyeballed right angle bend; up and inch or so for the first part of the second bend, then completed each bend around the tips of some wire forming pliers. Pressed on and if loose, "crimped" on with lineman's pliers, and voila! a hammer rack!
I think I'm going to add some smaller loops for some overly long screwdrivers I have that are not well stored just yet...
