For sale on our local craigslist for $550. Appears to have the OEM power feed mechanism and could probably be returned to original without too much problem.

That is really clever and probably makes the drill press much more suitable for metalworking.

I have to agree that installation looks kinda bad, but the idea is great. A friend has a cheaper import mill and installed a varispeed pulley like that off of a lawn mower and it works great. The picture you posted looks like the rods supporting the original motor mount are bent.

Yes there's a lot of angle on those back pulleys. In my 8' wide shop it would stick out another foot into the isle way.

You can add a plate between the original motor mount that sticks out to the side 12" or so and add the idle pulley shaft to that. That way it doesn't stick so far back but you would have to remove a belt guard if it was the full coverage type guard because the belt to the front would be coming from a side angle. The small frontal belt guard you see here should be ok. The ones mounted on the centre column are the best.
