Quick lighting connection question...

In an earlier post I mentioned trying to get two new lights setup. I got the first one setup (Lithonia T5 Strip Light - 2 Bulbs) just fine.

I unboxed the second one, which is a similar light but is double the length of the first as it powers up 4 bulbs. The ceiling can circuit only has a black and white wire which connected seamlessly to the 2 bulb light, however this new 4 bulb light has 3 wires (black, white, and red).

The below pictures show closeup of the ballast (its the 4 light setup on the right). Looks like the purpose of the red wire allows me to turn on only 2 lights on the strip instead of all 4. Should I connect the red and black from the ballast both to the black wire coming off the circuit (and white with white)? Am I just stuck having to always power on all 4 bulbs?

Appreciate all of the help as I'm new to this stuff...

Ugghh, you have one of them.

With another switch you can operate either 2 or 4 of the lights from the one ballast. As the diagram says, you connect it to neutral or hot (puts a low or high on the wire) and the 2nd set of lights will come one. If you leave it disconnected, only one set will come on.

What would you prefer? For all 4 just connect it to either the black or white.

I think all 4 at once should be good for the area of the garage I'm using it for. Looks like it doesn't matter what wire I connect the red to then. Thanks for the help.
