i did things rather quickly last year and did not finish to heat my single detached garage, i kept it about freezing all winter long. i installed unfaced R30 insulation in the whole ceiling with the vent baffles, etc... i never covered the ceiling with drywall cause i got busy with other things... the roof needs to be replaced and is not vented at all currently, will add a ridge vent when i do it... i noticed some mold starting to form on the side of the insulation away from the roof, as if you were walking in the garage and looking up you can see it... i want to fix it before it becomes bigger, my question is, is it because the roof is not vented right now?

Mold needs three things to flourish....stagnant air, a food source, and moisture. The easiest of those to control is moisture.
