Originally I had my Gearwrench flexhead stubbies just laying flat in my box. Took up way to much room. I searched for some stubby wrench racks, and found some, thanks to this forum, at SK's website, but I felt bad paying that much for a wrench rack. So finally today I came up with this little ditty. Nothing hard, took about 1 hour and cost $0.00. Just two pieces of wood with some slots glued to a piece of plywood. I have a label maker so I'm going to put labels on the spaces between the slots for identification.

Just thought I'd share. Marry Xmas!

Genius!!!! What a great idea --

If it's not an imposition, could you take a pic without the wrenches, so we can see what the slots look like.

Thanks

I like that basic design, but I would make the base even smaller, just the width of the middle part of the stubby wrench so each end dropped down to the mat in the drawer.

Thinking on it a bit more and what tools I have handy. Rectangular narrow strip of wood for the base, with two holes drilled for a piece of 1/8" dowel to separate each wrench.

Picks of slots as promised. They are about 1/4" wide and 1/4" apart.

The way I made mine, it is about 2.5" high. If I would of used a thinner piece of plywood it would still fit in a 2" drawer though....

true!! or make the slang rack so it can read the sizes... i had craftsman foam dividers set and i cut it to make fit for stubby wrenches set... it is work good and it will not worn out when i pull and put it on again... i just put most useful tools on tool cart (snap on) with lock lid on it...

Use a piece of sheetmetal instead of plywood for the base, and you'll lose quite a bit of height to stick in in a thin drawer. Then makes the pegs about 1.75" high, and you'd be golden.

going to bring this thread back to life :)

i've got a bunch of the ernst wrench 'gripper' wrench organizers and love them - they are exactly what i want...but their stubby type doesn't work, at least not for any of my ratcheting stubbies - the parallel rails are too far apart for most of them :(

i've asked ernst if they'd consider making a narrower version as i imagine almost if not all ratcheting stubbies won't fit for the same reason.

so if you're at all interested in a narrower one, made by a US company that already makes some damn nice stuff, please post here. i'll send the url to the thread to the individual i've been speaking to @ ernst.

really? that little interest in wrench racks for ratcheting stubbies? i've got 4 sets of the dang things and no good 'tote' style carrier i've found yet works with them :( as the original poster said, the original blow mold cases just waste waaay too much space.
