Hi everyone!
I just got my epoxy-coat kit in the mail last week and have spent the better part of today prepping the floor. I plan on putting down the coating next weekend. My garage floor is 3 years old. Here is what I have done so far:
1: Sanded concrete with a 17" orbital floor buffer from Sunbelt, I used 20 grit paper to get a finish that I would compare to 120 grit sandpaper on wood -- Not rough to the eye, but has a nice profle that appears to be conducive to a good bond.
2: Using a stiff bristle broom I completely swept the floor.
3: I poured warm water mixed with a little dawn soap directly on the floor and worked it with a scrub brush.
4: I rinsed thoroughly with fresh warm water (3 times) and pushed the excess out of the garage with a stiff broom.
5: Finally, I poured warm water directly on the floor and used a squeege to pull it all out of the garage.
I am getting no residue on my fingers if I wipe them across the concrete.
Now I have a few more questions. Should I use the supplied etching kit that epoxy-coat supplies, or have I done enough prep work? IF I do need to etch, how many days before hand can I do that process? Does it need to be done shortly before applying the epoxy?
