If it needs to be inspected please check with the proper people. The house I purchased and tore down had a well, and I decided to replace the pump, line, wire, and pitless adapter. The old pitless unit has a very large O-ring on it and it had a foot that pressed 180° from the hole the water went through the other side of the casing. There was another piece on the outside of the well that had the pipe thread. I thought this was old school so I purchase a modern pitless (stainless) and installed it. When they came out to approve the well - no go - had to be this old school attachment. Typical city / county government - so had to scrap all the new stuff and go back to 1960 technology.

Here is what they approve:

Always better to check first.

Thanks for the responses, I will check to see what type of adapter is acceptable, was wondering if the stainless versions had a longer life expectancy.
