First time post, long time lurker.
I bought a grinder for $35 at an estate sale. I was wondering if folks here could help me identify the maker. Also have a question on the left hand stone replacement. I have no idea what it is and how it is used. I am guessing its a used up early type of diamond wheel. I hope the pictures come out as I canceled my photobucket account and its my first time using google drive. Thanks for looking.

I had a grinder that had similar heavy duty guards. It was manufactured by "Van Dorn" Could be them.

Looks like a nice one. If you don't get an answer here, you might check out owwm.org and their metalworking section for help with an ID. Someone there is sure to know what it is.

Looks like a Baldor to me. I assume it was really cheap since it has no rests, and the castings are broken off for installing new ones. Would be a good donor for a wire wheel setup, or maybe even a belt grinder attachment like I did to mine.

thanks for the info everyone. I think its a Baldor. Its amaging how heavy it is and how much power it has compared to my 1 year old new grinder. I will add a wire wheel and put her back into service.
