is this good enough of a deal? with my student SO account its about 220 for the same set.

PROTO is my favorite for impact sockets ... they're real good looking sockets that don't seem to ever show their age.

Any grudges against the 1/2" drive matco impact sockets? i have them in 3/8 and like them so far.

Well J&L Industrial Supply has a Proto 15pc 1/2drive (3/8 to 1-1/4) shallow set for almost $120 and a 15pc deep set of the same sizes for almost $180. That's $300 for the two sets, so if he has those sets and they are complete, I don't think $180 is a bad deal at all, especially if most are unused.
