Trying to figure out what kind of floor to do in a 750 or so s.f. garage. I do minor maintenance and repairs (oil changes, brake jobs) in this garage from time to time.

a) will VCT stand up to oil and brake fluid? If I spilled some of either I'd clean it up quickly.
b) same question for snap together tiles, but with the additional question whether they'll have a problem if oil or more importantly brake fluid gets in between them so you can't get it up without taking the floor apart.

VCT will stand up well to spilled fluids, as long as they are sealed with a min 3 coats of wax or a clear epoxy it will not migrate into the joints.

Snap together flooring will also stand up well to spilled fluids, but there is no way to stop the fluids from migrating into the joints.

I HAD rubber snap together tiles in 1/2 of my basement garage. I had to pull it out due to the fact once it got wet underneath, it would never dry.

That space is air conditioned, so when you open the door on a hot humid day the exposed concrete floor would sweat, the condensate would wick under the tiles.......and never dry. Also when the wife pulled her car in from the rain it caused the same issues.

I epoxied the floor for now, but I am seriously looking at vct for the basement and my upstairs wood shop

Good luck with the project:thumbup:
