Quick Release pins for concrete anchors?

So I have a vise on a stand and a crowded garage. I'd like to drop some anchors in the middle of the floor that I can hook the vise stand to it when I want to use it. Is there a quick release style pin or something that I can use with a concrete anchor, that when removed, there is nothing protruding above the floor.

Any ideas?

I think they are called drop-in anchors. Have to drill a specific-depth hole, drop in the anchor. Insert a round pin and smack with a hammer to set a wedge. It has a regular UNC coarse thread like 3/8-16 or 1/2-13.

The problem would probably end up as how to keep the threads from getting full of dirt, grit, etc. A shop vac would help, and setscrews that were installed while the stand was away would also.

Drop ins would be the way to go but would be best when not used to find something to fill the hole with to protect the threads.

Drop-in anchors would get my vote, however, they don't have high capacity compared to conventional concrete anchors. They are used mostly for overhead conditions supporting lights and small stuff.

Are you using your vice for just holding stuff like when grinding? Or like bending stuff?

For heavy bending stuff you should bolt it down. For light stuff just build a little pedestal and use a dolly to move it around.

You can also drill for a threaded rod with a coupler. Drill a larger hole near the surface for the coupler to sit flush, then a hole for the threaded rod to the depth of the slab and epoxy the entire assembly. 3/8 to 1/2 should be plenty strong.

You probably already did this but in case you didnt I would make sure you don't have a post tension slab. Just so you don't accidentally hit a rod which could he disastrous.
