Ok so I am looking to upgrade my air compressor, there are many many different brands out there but I have more or less narrowed it down to 2 different ones. Both are the same brand, one is just more powerful (more money too) than the other. My bottom line question is do I really need to spend the extra money on the larger unit or not.
Facts:
- I am not a full time mechanic nor do I run a full time shop
- I do have a large sand blast cabinet that I wish to run
- I plan to use my DA sander as well as paint my own vehicles (maybe 1 or 2 a year tops)
- I plan to place the unit outside and pipe the air into my work space, with that said I'm worried about loosing to much SCFM through the piping process. My sand blast cabinet is on the opposite corner from where I plan to place the pump.
- I am looking to keep on a somewhat tight budget but don't want to cheat myself by doing so.
- From the tank to my main hose reel is about 25' and another 15' on to the SB cabinet.
- Has anyone used and had luck with the Nylon hosing kits specially made for air compressor use? Lowes has a set that's similar to one online

- Husky 60Gal. unit capable of
*CFM at 40 psi is 13.4 and CFM at 90 psi is 11.5** for 489.99
- Husky 80 Gal. unit capable of
* 16.1 CFM at 40 psi and 14 CFM at 90 psi** for 849.99
Bottom line, Can the cheaper unit do what I need it to or will i loose to much though all the lines getting to the tools on the other side of the garage? I need about 13 SCFM for the paint gun set I'm looking at plus whatever the blast cabinet needs to run I can't remember off the top of my head... Thanks for all the input in advance guys.
Oh and just to get this out of the way, I do not plan on using PVC, already read that like a hundred times haha
