I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for an extremely quiet 1/4 air ratchet. Right now im using a matco mt1834 which works well but its just getting to be a little old so im starting to looking for something new. Ive considered the ingersoll rand 1215ti but havent heard much info about it.

mac makes one for like $80-100. its painted red with silver. its very fast, powerful and pretty quiet compared to the blue point one i have

IR just introduced two new 1/4" ratchets, the 105 and 1105MAX. The 105 has a sound level of 81.8 dba and the 1105MAX is 88.9 dba. The 105 is 25 ft-lbs/250 rpm and the 1105MAX is 30 ft-lbs/300 rpm. Both of them include a new head design that significantly increase the life of the tools.

this is just my observation of these air tool/power tool discusions on this site. why is it you guys will drop a few hundred $ on stubby combination wrenches, but wont put that same kind of scratch into really good quality air and power tools? AirCat? Really???? If you want a cheap quality air tool go with Sioux over AirCat. hell Snap On has been private labeling Sioux tools forever. Sorry it just doesnt make sense to me. maybe because im not much of a wrencher... but still.

What don't you guys like about Ingersoll-Rand air ratchets?
Have you ever used an AirCat tool? Don't be fooled by the price, their quality is leaps and bounds ahead of most stuff, including a lot of the high end brands.
IMO snapon's air tools, with the exception of the new MG line, **** balls.
the painful noise levels!

For those suggesting Aircats, is this ONLY for ratchets, or are you preferring their impact guns as well?

All their tools are good, I think IR has 'em beat in the impact category though.

i agree, the 2135 is pretty much the king of the 1/2inch relm.
as far as air ratchets go, ive only used a far7200, which pretty much kicks ***. Id like to find something comparable buy i just cant.
1/4 inch, my air cat has been through hell and highwater, broken off bolts that 1/4 drive shouldnt be used for, and kept on kicking. Its also been know to break a few 6mm bolts.

Not sure if they make a ratchet, but I have the Matco 1/2 impact quiet series and it is ridiculous how quiet it is. The Matco air tools are also just Ir in a red case, so look into IR for a quiet series, you'll save a bunch of money(I found this out to late).
Do any of you use the aircat on a daily basis? Just curious as to how well itll hold up when used daily etc. One of the main things I liked about the IR which I might be able to sacrifice some sound for is the reverse/forward lever rather than the little thing to spin on the head.

First you put down Aircat, then list Sioux as a cheap quality tool? Sorry, I have a hard time taking you seriously after that.
Oh, and I did put the $$ into it. I SOLD my IR stuff for Aircat.
Noise level, don't last for squat. Same goes for their angle die grinders. My aircats will do laps around the IR tools, with more power, and less noise, and they're more comfortable in my hand. I greased and oiled my IR's regularly, and they crapped on me in under 3 years. My HF air tools have lasted longer, for crying out loud.
I've been using the 1/4" air ratchet at work for 4 years. For that matter, half of the people in the hangar have used it, some even owning their own air ratchets.
I'm on the same boat with fordbroncodave and the quiet mac air ratchets he listed. I had a hard time justifying spending a lot of money on air ratchets due to the lack of noise difference until I heard those and how quiet they were compared to everyone else's.
