Own a Champion 5hp., 60 gal. tank, from TP Tool. VERY quite. You can stand next to while it is ruining and carry on a normal conversation.

At the risk of sounding like a joker, the quietest 60-gal compressor is the one you put outside of your shop. I've never heard one that I liked the sound of enough to want it in the garage with me.

And yes, I'll be leaving it in the original pole barn and not in the new shop. Don't have the remote start wired in yet, but I'll get there.

Then I would say not to worry. My IR 3hp/60 gal is in the shop (19X19!) with me because the only space I have outside is for my dust collector, which is a heck of a lot noisier. I survive, although it's not perfect.

What T-30 version is it? Can you post a link.

Typically noise is a function of speed. So the quitest compressor would be the one that runs the slowest. Absolutely quietest, would probably be a quincy QR series running down to ~450-500 RPM. Compressor output (CFM) is also a function of pump speed, so you will end up giving up output to decrease noise for a given model pump.

The quietest would be not running. Consider getting another 60gl or 80gl tank.
