I just joined this board because I am staining and sealing my kitchen floor; and now having a problem... This seems to be the only site I've found that MIGHT be able to help so here goes:
It is a nearly 20 year old house, on a slab, and we pulled up the linoleum to expose the slab under it. We then scraped all the old glue off, rented a rotary sander and sanded the entire floor (almost went with the diamond tip, but thought that may have been a little extreme...). We mopped and mopped to get all the dust and everything up.
We then applied the quikrete etching stain. It stayed on for a good 24 hours; mopped and mopped again to get all the surface grit and grime off. Now the sealant.
Used quikrete wet-look waterproofer; applied the first coat and it took in pretty well. Left it for about 3+ hours, then added a second coat. We have since left that on for over 24 hours. There are just a few spots that are still wet (whiteish) looking... Not too worried about it, yet. It still feels sticky/tacky to the touch, too. The biggest issue is along a few edges it's peeling up now... Could be from where the tape along the wall and the clear coat may have overlapped; but not sure.
So I'm not sure what to do now... Going to leave it for another 24 hours and hope everything else (not along the edges) "firms" up and isn't as sticky/tacky tomorrow and possibly sand and re-seal the edges. Does anyone here have any thoughts/ideas/suggestions as to which way I should go? Thanks for all of your help in advance...
