Hello all

I'm new so thank you in advance for your help.

Today I picked up a compressor that I think might be put together from parts but initially I suspect I did well.

Tank is marked Westinghouse 1949 . 70 gal with a 197 psi working pressure.

I got a 5 hp Leland Faraday motor (mounted) and a spare 3 hp of the same name that needs a bearing. Looks like that was on the machine first.

Pump is a Quincy 325_Roc 1. Does not have a filter. I only know what I've learned in the last day or two but I gather this is a first rate pump. Runs nice and quiet 150 psi start and 180 psi shut down. I can only report that it's 1 minute 45 seconds from 150 to 180 psi. I don't know the time empty to full but my gut says it may be a bit slow. In any case it looks to have been well cared for. If nothing else the man I bought it from was a seemingly meticulous person and not an abuser of his tools.

What can anyone tell me about this machine. What should I start with as far as checking. Oil of course. Can I upgrade to a spin on filter. Is it pressure lubed. I don't have an oil pressure gauge.

You get the idea. How did I do? And what do I do next other that change oil and put it to use.

And I will post pics tomorrow.... Too dark to get any good ones right now. I tried.

Thanks

John
