I have an older Quincy 325 that stopped building pressure. With the compressor running and my hand over the input (where air filter attaches) I feel a rapid pulse/suction/pulse etc. which seems to be about as fast as the unit is running. So I carefully rebuilt the two intake valves and no help. Could there be a problem with the unloader? any other suggestions where to look? thanks!

Do you have oil pressure?

Are the two seals on the hydraulic unloader in good shape? You will have to pull the air lines off of it, remove the four bolts and pull it straight out to check the seals. There should be a cup seal and a quad ring. Best to just replace them as a matter of course.

You could just order a whole new unloader if you aren't sure it is working properly.

did you actually remove the head and change the valves Plates? That is usually the biggest offender. You could have a check valve that is stuck open, which will prohibit building pressure.

Quincy 325 does not have a valve plate(s), it has real valves, externally accessible/serviceable.
