Has anyone ever seen a Quincy 340 or 350 mounted on a any kind of vertical tank? I have seen some very large pumps mounted on 80 and 120 gallon vertical tanks which are generally wider and squatty. The pumps I have seen on these tanks may be heavy but not usually very tall like the Quincy.

I have a Quincy 340 that I am currently rebuilding and would like a vertical application if at all possible, minimum of 80 gallon tank.

I might even settle for a larger diameter horizontal tank thats shorter in length if I could find something like that. I have not seen tanks like this though.

Put it on a low profile 120 gallon vertical tank. About 54 inches tall and about 42 inches in diameter.

If i can find a vertical 120G tank, that was my plan. I am still a little leery though. Thats nearly 500lbs sitting up there. Nothing to be trifled with. Thats why I was qurious as to whether or not anyone else has done it.

Yeh, I have seen that style before. I guess I was just thinking that the Quincy is so much taller than the dual piston setup like that. Probably wouldnt matter much as you say.

Now i just need to find a 120 vert. tank.

Thanks

Like i said make sure you build a base or anchor it in the concrete. You don't want this to fall over on someone. Here is the base I just built a few weeks ago. It is 31"x31"

Might call Polar Air (Eaton) and see if they will sell you a tank. Their tanks are USA made and I know they sell their comp pumps alone. I would like to drive over to their factory and check them out some time just because i am weird and like snooping around factories.

Typically the largest you see on an 80 gallon vert is a 7.5HP rated pump... For a 120 gallon vert usually 10 HP models... I've seen a *few* 15 HP, but most manufacturers don't like to do it because it is very top heavy (and I'm guessing people have too many accidents)...

I have built a 20hp on a 120 vertical before BUT the pump was aluminum. (Some chinese import a customer requested.)

I was just saying common OEM configurations. What people do when building their own is a whole different story. I'm not saying things like that can't be done, I'm just saying that most manufacturers limit what they put on vertical tanks because it can make them very top heavy, which is what you want to be careful of.
