Quincy 390 compressor value?

I aquired what I believe to be a quincy 390 compressor with a 120 gallon Manchester tank. It had a 15hp motor on it, but somebody else snagged the motor.

Based on the shear weight I believe it to be a 390 over a 370, we had to load it with a fork lift. I t was fully operational a few weeks ago until it was replaced with a bigger unit.

How much do you think the compressor itself would be worth?

How about the tank?

It's to big for my needs, but I'd like to barter for a smaller compressor, but I need a rough estimate of what I have is worth.

Since this one doesn't have a motor, do you think around $500-$800 would be a fair price?

In pieces . . . . & no way to demonstrate that it works . . . your value will lag.

Why not buy 5 or 7.5 HP single phase motor and get it going ??

Even if you decide not to keep it, a complete compressor will be worth more.

From what I read it needs at least a 7.5 hp, and most say don't go smaller than a 10hp. It had a 15hp 3 phase motor.

It depends who's the target buyer, home shop or commercial business.

There's always good demand for 5hp or smaller (i.e. Quincy 325 and 210) compressor with homeowners. These guys have a lot of time and they willing to take a risk and tinker with it if it doesn't have a motor.

For larger compressor like the 370 or higher, that's more likely a commercial market and w/o a motor and demonstrating working condition, those guys don't have time to mess around. You would have to give it away unless you find the right guy for it. The ones that love these pumps are the sandblaster (metal shops) because these pumps are 100% duty cycle.

If I want to sell that compressor w/in one month on CL, I would list it as-is today for $350.

I'd gladly trade a 325 pump that has been used for a little over a year. I bought it from a dry cleaners that went out of business and this was their backup pump. I've used it about a year. I don't need the tank.
