I have been planning on buying at Quincy 5 HP 2 stage 60 gallon tank model # 2V41C60VC. I went to Northern Tool and they had changed from the (4) flat feet to (3) cup style feet. Also the paint finish was not as good of quailty as it used to be. I was very disappointed to say the least.

Paint finish? You joking? LoL. It isn't a car - drips, runs, and overspray is the RULE not the exception in the industrial machine world. I worked at a Quincy distributor/manufacturer and we often did small jobs with rattle cans.

You simply can't judge a compressor using that metric. High quality paint is not a priority.

Feet style will change with the tank supplier. Quincy makes pumps and then builds assemblies using tanks, motors, and controls sourced from many different suppliers. Once assembled it is masked and painted in a manner appropriate and commensurate with what it is - a tool that needs some basic protection from corrosion.

That said - this model is a splash lubed reed valve machine. Meant to compete in the light commercial market segment. It is not the heavy industrial machine that made Quincy it's name for quality. If you want a serious compressor get a QR series. You will not find one at any retailer. New they can be ordered from any compressor supplier. Best bet is used since they can easily be rebuilt.

You are correct, but unless the OP's intended use is commercial or daily continuous use, this compressor is fine. I own this model and use it as most home garage DIY users would, and I'm very happy with it. Unless purchased used, a pressure lubed compressor is triple the price or more, and in most cases, overkill for the average home user. If intended use is significantly greater, then yes, considering the QR model would be advised.
