Quincy Compressor Help....

Hey Guys,

I am new to the forum and need some help. I researched this through old posts first and could not find one that was having the same issues as me. I have a Quincy QTV--54E vertical from 2017 that has always been a good machine. I recently moved to another shop and this machine sat for approximately 3 months before being plugged back in( I was having electrician run new 220 lines). When moved it was kept vertical and did not fall etc.... I plugged it back in and can't seem to get it to work. The Baldor electric motor comes on, turns the drive belt but the compressor makes a sort of hollow thumping and never actually cycles on. The electric motor continues to run for approximately 10 sec, then I hear a slight click and it slows down for approx 3-5 before speeding back up. It does slightly increase the air pressure in the tank when this is happening but the compressor portion does not seem to cycle on. I have checked voltage at the plug, replaced air filter, replaced oil ......nothing seems to be working. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

sorry, but I'm not understanding your post.
the motor spins but the compressor is not spinning? but it's building some pressure?

I apologize for my explanation. The motor is spinning and turning both gears. The compressor is making very slight pressure ( less than 5) but sounds funny sort of a muffled hollow popping. Not the usual robust sound I am used to with the QT-54. The electric motor is almost louder than the compressor and seems to be cycling in an attempt to "start" the compressor.

a loose (or oil on) the belt causing it to slip

Possibly. It felt tight but I will certainly recheck it for looseness or oil on the belt. Thank you

Just guessing.... stuck valve from condensation causing rust.or broken valve

Re-check your connections in the motor junction box, if you don't find any belt issues. I have a feeling the motor is not getting enough juice.

Disconnect the belt, see if motor runs up to correct speed?

Turn compressor by hand without belt, listen for odd noises?

Same here.....I get the feeling that the motor is being supplied with 120 volts and it actually requires 240.
