I recently bought an old Quincy compressor, model 106. Everything works and she has a 14" sheave with an approximately 3.5" motor pulley. The info I have been able to find says that this puts the compressor in the low range of the 400-900 operating rpm range. This compressor has an old Dayton 1hp 1725 rpm motor that looks like a "tank." Could I purchase a 7" pulley and go to the high side of the range without incident or would that be too much for this 1hp motor? I am pretty new to this so anybody wants to educate me then please do so. I would love to get this up and going well. Currently wired 120v. If additional info is needed then please let me know.
