Guys - found a used compressor for sale. A Quincy QTS-5; 3Hp, only a 17 gallon tank. Anyone give any advice or know anything about this model? As well as what it might be worth? Don't know the age but am told it's in excellent condition. sounds like Quincy is a good reliable compressor brand.

that is the single stage standard duty line. it does have the cast iron cylinder but it's splash lubricated. i would pay about 300 for one in good condition.

after finding a little more material -- this is a contractor grade - 4 cylinder setup - but this same pump that is on some industrial units. I was really looking at it for the pump, knowing it lacks storage volume. Surely with the 4 cylinder it ought to be on the quiet side. :) I thought I would work in a seperate storage tank (slave tank) to get more volume. Will be using it for home shop - grinding, sanding, impacts, etc.

You would want to get the (Slave tank) right away, although it maybe quieter than some because its 4 cylinders, not sure about that, but with that size tank it would be running almost all the time doing any kind of grinding or sanding.

Buy the biggest compressor you can afford and have room for. Lots of people buy smaller units and regret it later.

Just sayin

Mm
