I recently purchased 2 old Quincey compressors for $100. They both have metal tags on the tank or frame saying "Chandler Machinery Company"...Atlanta, Georgia. The first on is very small, on probably a 20 gal tank. It is complete, and actually runs and works. Took about 7-8 minutes to pump up to 80 psi. I stopped it at 80, until I can check it out more closely. It is surface rusty all over, but was supposedly used until about 2 years ago. The tag on the motor is in bad condition but looks it says 1/3 hp. It looks as if may be from the 1940's or 50's. Anyone know anything about a Quincy this small, or ever seen one?

The second one is a Quincy Model 106 with what appears to be a 20 in the space to the right of the model. Tank is larger, maybe 60 gal or close. There is no motor on this one. I am fairly familiar with compressors, but I have never owned a Quincy. I know this is or was a common model, but I cannot find specifications on it. I have googled and searched this forum, but found no place that gives the overall specs or answers my questions. Spins over as it should. Tag on the tank says in was manufactured in 1958. Can some of you guys give me specs and/or other info on it?

As far as specs I can’t be much help but Quincy makes a good compressor. We had a screw compressor at the plant I work in until about a year ago. It was a good unit.

Yeah, I know they are known to be among the best. I too, have worked in shops that have them, and swore by them. I just never had need to lay hands on one. I need general info such as what size motor I need, its maximum output, max pressure etc. Thanks for your input.

You sure compressor #1 is a Quincy? Post some pics and somebody might be able to identify it.

Compressor #2, the 20 is most likely the ROC, record of change, number.

Go here:
https://www.quincycompressor.com/resources/support/

click "find a manual", about 1/2 way down the page

search for keywords "1063162"

This is the QR 106 manual for ROC 21

Do another search for keywords "QR 106 legend"

This is a history of the QR 106 from ROC 1 to 20.

Do another search for keywords "50235-100"

This is the QR 25 Model 106/108 ROC 100 manual, from 1988.
Should be the same basic pump design.

These are parts manuals and don't have a lot of setup info.

The model 106/108 manual lists the RPM range at 400-900 and max psi at 150.

You'll need to do some measuring and figgering and source the correct RPM motor and pulley. This lets you play with the specs:

https://www.blocklayer.com/pulley-belt.aspx

Safety nag: old tanks. Have the tanks tested or at least do a grease gun pressure test you'll find here on GJ.

On the small one, I have bet it was not a Quincy, but I did see Quincy either on the upper frame or the little pump itself. I have to look at that again. On the 106, I think the site is one I already checked and could not find much. I will check again, and do your recommended searches. I will try hard to get some pictures up tomorrow. Thanks a lot for the help.

I realize this is an old post, but I have the same Quincy 108 or 106. I was able to get a hold of old manuals if this helps. This was my grandfather’s compressor some time around 1950. It runs like a champ, I’m just concerned about a tank that’s 75 years old. If you found any additional info on the Quincy, please share as I’d like to restore the old girl.
