Quincy Model 240 compressor question

Also looking at a used Quincy model 240. Original pump and tank, motor was originally 5 hp but was replaced with a 2 hp. I know with the optional 7.5 hp motor, this compressor would put out over 20 SCFM @ 90 psi.

Any guesses as to what it's output would be with a 2 hp motor?

The 240 was not rated for a 2HP motor. It might not lubricate running that slowly.

You can figure about 3.5 CFM per horsepower.

Ok, good to know. I know it was regeared to spin the appropriate rpm, but it's a pressure lubed pump, so I guess it might have been hard on it. I'll call Quincy tomorrow.

You need to keep it between 400 and 900 RPM to keep the oil pressure up. It's a 3-5hp unit with a high teens CFM output at 90pai at the top end of the RPM range.
