Aficionados, I need some suggestions. I bought this air compressor some time ago and finally got it running. It had a 3 phase motor and I put a 120V motor that I had from another tool. It is from 1983. The tank is 30 gal. The thing is that it puts out 1.3 CFM, which is barely enough for nail guns, tire inflation, etc. It takes about 15 minutes to fill the tank!
I'm thinking of stealing the tank and making a small Weber WSM-style smoker and using the pump for something else. I do have another compressor that puts out 9 CFM for general work around my garage (paint spraying, tire inflation, occasional impact gun).

I love putting vintage tools to use, but will I upset the "vintage tool goods" if I take apart this thing? The pump is very heavy, much more than my other air compressor pump.

I do mostly woodworking and general auto mechanic work.

Any suggestions?
