Quincy QT-5 question

Alright, I'm looking at a Quincy Qt-5 that's about 8 years old. I can't seem to find specs on the air output. The owner claims 5 hp but 20amps. I know there are quite a few different lines within the Quincy brand. He claims a pump speed of 1050. I know they're well made but I've heard mixed things about the QT line not being pressure lubed and I'm wondering about the aluminum head vs. cast iron. I've also heard some parts are now being made overseas and I'm wondering if there have been any model changes over the last few years. Any information on this model would be helpful

Probably the same as my unit, older maroon colored Quincy, late 90s era. Its a baldor 5HP motor. It spins fast [motor is 3450RPM], its loud. Not uncomfortably loud but you cant talk near it without raising your voice. Its not nearly as bad as the direct drive oilless but a far cry from a the chugging sound antiques make. CFM is around 17 at 150psi. Its rated up to 175psi. Paid $400 cash for mine.

I have no reservations with regards to splash lubricated pumps and the compressors been used largely for constant blasting by both myself and the previous owner, never had an issue with it.

The Quincy folks hate it... because like you say it's splash lubed. However, ANYTHING from Quincy is CRAZY nice. It still probably boasts a 100 percent duty cycle. If it spins that slow, it's a nice pump. Should perform for you very well. Parts and support should be easy, albeit expensive.
