I just went to a shop to lust over a new Quincy compressor. It had a Weg 5hp motor made in Brazil. What' up with that?

Even Quincy has gotten cheap in their lower price lines to stay competitive with overseas competition. The upper end compressors still use Baldor (from what I've seen) and I hope it continues as there are very few all American made compressors left in the world.

Does anyone realize that even Baldor and Leeson build at least some of their motors in China. The WEG motor is considered a very good motor in industry.

WEG makes motors up to 70,000 horsepower, and is one of the biggest motor manufacturers around.

While we don't know the specifics of the motor on the Quincy, there's a chance that it's a decent motor.

At least your money would be staying in the western hemisphere.

It's probable a good motor Eaton uses them to. I'm convinced there are no 100% USA compressors made anymore. Can't really blame the manufactures they are doing there best to cut costs to compete somewhat with china and some of the components are just not made in the USA.

The chines parts appear to be all none critical components on the USA compressors (Saylor Beall).

Baldor uses chines pulleys
Saylor Beall uses Chines ball valves ,fittings and mag starters.
