Hello, new here and wanted to show and ask about our quonset hut build up in the mountains of western NC

here are some shots of us getting the concrete pour ready...

Good start! Funny though, I thought "looks like W/NC" before I even read a word.

yeah, we love it up there. We lived in Canton near Asheville for several years before moving back to florida, but now are planning to move back up. We bought 10 acres and plan to eventually retire on it after we build our home.

The garage is going to be kind of a temporary living space/garage until we get our permanent home built up on the ridge above.
then, it will become my man cave, complete with bath/kitchen and cable TV

I have a kubota tractor I'm restoring, and I also do all the work on our cars (all old and used ), and am constantly wrenching on something.

Plan to put a lift in there as the ceiling height will be 16ft at the peak.

I'm uploading a short video to show where it is now...there is a 4ft concrete block wall and the quonset is mounted on top of it, so there will be lots of ceiling height, and room for a loft on one side.

We are also pretty secluded, although still within the town limits of Marshall, and I can step out my back door (once it is built) and practice with my guns.
In fact, I plan to have a shooting bench sitting just inside the backdoor for when it rains I can never go outside (have swinging steel gongs ).

that forklift was 240 bucks a day for three days, but it was worth it's weight in gold

the storage shed behind the quonset will be moved back another 10 ft or so eventually, there is a small road that goes back there and wraps around the property....
where the shed is now is where the septic will probably go at some point...

We plan to paint the outside of the quonset with Coldseal from Lowes, in white, which is an elastomeric paint that should help seal from drafts and help with some insulation when the sun is beating down on the metal (metal conducts heat so well and will condensate badly if big temp difference from inside to outside)
then we are going with a closed cell foam insulation sprayed on the interior, but havent decided which yet, or if we will do it ourselves or hire a guy (for big money I bet)

I've read a few threads on this forum about these buildings, which is how I found you guys while searching google.
